One-to-One MBSR Course

available Monday - Thursday

Venue online or in person at my retreat centre near Stonehaven

The Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn and his colleagues at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre.  It is designed to help participants learn new ways of handling difficult physical sensations, thoughts and emotions.  This course consists of 8 x 60 minute of workshops, which include a variety of mindfulness meditations, experiential work and group discussions.   

After completing MBSR course you will feel well equipped to integrate mindfulness into your daily life.  

Mindfulness can help us become less stressed, happier, and more focused.  It can also offer us greater awareness, choice and freedom towards how we respond to both the unpleasant and pleasant aspects of our lives and to its challenges. 

Home practice plays an important part of this course and we would highly recommend that during the 8 week course you incorporate a daily mindful meditation of 30 to 45 minutes.  Each week we will send you a different mindful meditation for your home practice in an MP3 format.  It is important to understand that Mindfulness is an experiential practice and its benefits come through practice, not through reading or learning about it.


The topics covered on this 8 week MBSR (mindfulness based stress reduction) course are as follows:

Session 2    Gathering the Scattered Mind - Coming to our senses

Session 3    What is Stress? - Becoming aware of our patterns of reactivity to stress

Session 4    Coping with Stress - Practising Mindfulness to respond instead of reacting

Session 5    Mindfulness of Thoughts – Thoughts are not facts

Session 6    Mindfulness of Emotions – Kindness warms our connections

Session 7    Cultivating Compassion – How can I best take care of myself?

Session 8    A Mindful Life – One breath at a time
